The first dual electric submersible pump unit was installed in the Waqifam Oilfield in the United Kingdom

Most recently, BP installed the REDA double electric submersible pump unit from Schlumberger Oilfield Services at the Waqifam Oilfield in the UK. This device will reduce the number of workover times by extending the operational life of the ESP, a major win for reducing workover efforts in older fields in environmentally sensitive areas.
Taking into account the changes in reservoir conditions during oil recovery, the upper and lower ESPs have different combinations of structures and are designed and installed to take into account future conversion issues between the two pumps. The lower electric submersible pump was first used in production with a motor power of 125 horsepower and an upper submersible pump with an additional pump stage in addition to a 150 horsepower motor to maintain the target flow rate as water content increased. In addition, advanced gas treatment procedures will effectively solve the gas-oil ratio over time. In order to maintain optimal production dynamics as reservoir conditions change, BP plans to transition to upper ESP production two and a half years later.

The unit can also be fitted with a 24-hour meter that monitors , monitors and optimizes technical services - Phoenix Multi- Sensor I Meter to measure pump inlet pressure, pump discharge pressure, inlet temperature, motor winding temperature, vibration and leakage.
